The countdown to the Labour Day is underway as Tamborine Mountain braces itself for the three day invasion of the The GarterBelts & Gasoline Nostalgia Festival.
In just over two weeks, this sensational rockabilly celebration of the Cars, Music, Fashion, Art and Culture inspired from the 1940s and 1950s will hit Tamborine Mountain. So here is the latest from the organizer, Paul Biagini.

Tickets
Tickets for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights are still available, however we believe that Friday night will be a sell out by next week. There will be some tickets held for door sales on all three nights, however the prediction is that they will sell very quickly.
If you would like to pre-order tickets, i have attached the order from to do so.
GB&G Head Quarters - St Bernards Hotel
This is the place to be for three nights of some of the best Rockabilly and Alt County music that Australia has to offer.
There will be great meals available before and during each show. Under 18s are welcome providing they are accompanied by an adult and head home at 10 pm.
Accommodation
The good folk at Mt Tamborine Motel (GB&G Head Quarters) have reported that there are still a few rooms available on the Friday and Sunday night.
Don't forget the Sunday night wind down and Monday is a public holiday.
I have also had a call from Eagle Heights hotel stating they have up to 10 rooms available due to a cancelation.

Also a reminder that vintage caravans, buses and camper vans are welcome to camp at the show grounds for the weekend.
This is by invitation only as the vehicles must fit a certain criteria, if you would like to camp for a small fee.
Please contact me direct before the weekend to organise this as you will not be able to just rock up at the gate and stay.
The GB&G Art Show
There will be some cool art on display on Friday, Saturday and Monday 10 am until 3 pm (free entry).
Pin Striper Stan Thomsen who won the Max Grundy award at the '09 GB&G Art Show will be doing his thing on the Friday from 1pm to 3pm and on the Saturday from Noon until 3pm, this will be a great opportunity to drop in and watch Stan while he lays down some lines in this time hounered style of art work. Perhaps Stan will lay some stripes on an item that you would lie to bring along?

Also don't forget that the amazing Victorian Pinup photographer Helen Mclean will be running a Pinup booth at the hall where the art show is being held.

The Art Show and Pinup Booth are located at the Tamborine show grounds on Main Western Rd.
Mistress Chrissy of The Lindy Charm School For Girls fame will be on site to do hair and make up for any girls who want to look their very best.

Soap Box Derby
We have well and truly enough entries for a race! This will take place on Curtis Rd on the Saturday morning, practice runs will start around 8.30 am and racing from 10.30 am if not a little earlier, if you are competing or spectating, please park up on the Long Rd end of Curtis Rd not the Geissmann Drive end as it will be closed.

There is a small park on the corner of Curtis and Long Roads for parking as well as the surrounding roads, please note that there will be reserved parking in the park for entrants tow cars, there will also be food available from 6am until noon.
This will be in the canteen at the park and supplied by the primary school P&C who are also providing us with the use of their toilets across the road.
Spectators are asked NOT to stand on the road during the race day.
There is ample room along the sides of Curtis Rd for spectators to watch the race and not endanger themselves or the racers.
The trophies will be presented around the corner of the race track at Mt Tamborine Brewery promptly after the race winds up at noon.
The High Tea & Vintage Shopping Tour
The ladies will enjoy the best of vintage shopping that Mt Tamborine has to offer while being guided by the adorable hostess with the mostest Mistress Chrissy

The Saturday Movie Matinee
The amazing Zamia theater is located on the left as you head up Main street at Nth Tamborine.
There is plenty of parking and there will be a licensed bar. Please enter the Zamia via the front door, there will also be tickets on sale at the booth.
There will be an interval during the first movie (Pinup Girl) and the second ( Road Racers) Just a reminder that Road Racers is rated M15+ as it has some violence and coarse language content.
The Hot Rod Carnivale
This is the big one, the gates will open to the public at 9 am and 7.30 am for car and bike entrants to a day of live music (6 Bands) on two stages, Vintage markets, the little miss GarterBelts & Gasoline pageant, art show, pinup booth, hot rods, customs, classic bikes, licensed bar (NO BYO) please and food vendors, all the while taking in the scenery of Mt Tamborine and catching up with friends. Entrants will need to enter via the back entry to the show grounds off Bishop Court, pedistrians can enter either at the front gate or the back gate. Non entrant cars will not be permitted into the show grounds.
The Tamborine Auto Clinic 07 5545 1214 on Main Western Rd will be extending their trading hours on Friday and Saturday to supply us with Hi Octane Premium unleaded for our rides, please support these guys with your fuel purchase as they have even entered a Soap Box Derby car, they have shown us much support.
