Scenic Rim Council will undertake community consultation after the draft Boonah Town Centre Parking Study 2011 and Review of Beaudesert Town Centre Parking Study 2007 was adopted yesterday (14 December 2011).
The aim of Boonah Town Centre Parking Study 2011 was to identify for improvements to parking in Boonah, opportunities to optimise the utilisation of existing facilities, and possible strategies to realise improvements and opportunities.
Corporate and Community Services Committee Chairperson, Councillor Heather Wehl said that Council encourages comment on both parking studies.

“While the draft parking study shows the parking requirements generally meet with the overall supply, there is room for improvement and the opportunity to manage parking on High, Railway, Park and Church Streets in order to improve parking availability,” Cr Wehl said.
The Beaudesert Town Centre Parking Study review was prepared in response to the previous study undertaken by the former Beaudesert Shire Council in 2007 which examined the parking supply for on street and large off street parking areas with an emphasis on vehicle turn over and length of stay.
The findings from the review indicate a technical shortfall which may not be actually reflected in day to day parks.
“A recommendation of this review is to construct off-street parking facilities to reduce the existing parking shortfall and ensure that all new developments provide full parking solution to ensure shortfall is not increased.”
Council will undertake community consultation on both studies and accept written submissions until 31 January 2012. Copies of the studies can be viewed on Council’s website www.scenicrim.qld.gov.au/have-your-say
