Scenic Rim Council has joined with South East Queensland Councils to enhance readiness of disaster management groups.
The Scenic Rim Local Disaster Management Group recently conducted a meeting at the Queensland Emergency Operations Centre in Brisbane.
Cr Dave Cockburn, Deputy Mayor of Scenic Rim Regional Council chaired the meeting.
“Coming up to the first anniversary of the floods, and currently witnessing the start of the storm season, it is important that we are prepared and work with other local councils to strategically plan for future events,” Cr Cockburn said.

“Council is working closely with the Local Disaster Management Group to implement recommendations from the Queensland Flood Inquiry Interim Report to ensure that we are in the best position in case of future disasters."
“Disaster management and preparedness is a high priority for Council, working with other Councils and the Local Disaster Management Group will help our region to be prepared.”
The Local Disaster Management Group and Council Staff are participating in exercises in conjunction with other South East Queensland Local Governments to enhance the readiness of all groups and council regions.
