The Vonda Youngman Community Centre hosts hundreds of events each year and thousands of people pass through its doors.
For community organisations to be effective and meet community needs, they require well maintained premises from which to conduct their operations, or provide community benefits in the form of meeting places, etc.
It is a well run and popular venue and the booking fees have been sufficient to enable NTCCI to meet all routine costs of cleaning and small maintenance and improvements, however they depend upon grants for assistance with upgrades to equipment.
North Tamborine Community Centre Inc has embarked upon a program of refreshing and refurbishing the Vonda Youngman Community Centre in a multiple phased renovation program.
As part of this program, to bring the Centre up to date in compliance with health and safety, a new refrigerator has been purchased.
Many hirers make use of the kitchen, sometimes simply for tea, coffee and light refreshments, but often for catering of meals, dinners and the like.
The kitchen is used on a weekly, if not daily basis and its important that the facilities and equipment are appropriate for this heavy workload. The refrigerator was a much needed asset for the kitchen, as the previous one was quite rusted and well past its 'use by' date.
The new refrigerator is proudly provided by the Scenic Rim Regional Council’s Community Grants Program.
NTCCI will be continuing the program with the replacement of the dishwasher, as well as further refurbishments to the back Meeting room. Cladding the walls to the Meeting room would provide a sound buffering, as well as having the added benefit of enabling the walls to be used for multi purposes, such as providing a screen for a data projector.
Currently the room is used for classes requiring a carpeted floor, as well as small to medium sized meetings, however, providing a more professional look to the room will open the room to its use by conferences and meetings which require multi-media presentations.
The members of NTCCI, on behalf of the wider community would like to sincerely thank the Scenic Rim Regional Council for all their assistance and support.
