We received a note from Rob and Caroline Tolmie saying that their North Tamborine Property "Glenloch" would be open to the public this weekend as part of the Australian Open Garden Scheme.
Last time Glenloch was open for the Seasons on the Mountain Open Gardens, the weather was rainy. Rob and Caroline are hoping for finer weather this time. My wife and I did an extended article about the three wonderful properties which were part the Seasons on the Mountain a few weeks ago and were mightily impressed with all the gardens - but Glenloch was unique.
The garden is sole work of Rob and Caroline over a very brief five year period. It is rare to see the exclusive hands of one pair of gardeners acting on several acres of land and having such a huge effect. Avenues of trees. Delicate combinations of trees and shrubs and understory plants. Water features in various flavours that blend to be a glorious whole.

So if you missed Glenloch last time or did not want to venture out in the inclement weather of that weekend, do take the opportunity to see this magnificent garden at the end of Yuulong Street in North Tamborine.
The garden is open from 10.am to 4.30pm on Saturday and Sunday and the cost of a ticket to enter is just $6.00. The full address is 42 Yuulong Street North Tamborine.
ABOUT AUSTRALIA'S OPEN GARDEN SCHEME
Australia's Open Garden has a website where they talk about the aims of the organization at www.opengarden.org.au.
HERE ARE SOME EXTRACTS FROM THEIR WEBSITE
What is Australia's Open Garden Scheme?
Australia's Open Garden Scheme is a non-profit organisation that began in Victoria in 1987. Our aim is to promote the knowledge and pleasure of gardens and gardening across Australia. We
do this by opening Australia's most inspiring private gardens to the public.
What sort of gardens open?
We open private gardens of every size, style and description. Old and young, large and small, from inner city courtyards to grand country estates, from tropical gardens to the more traditional gardens of the temperate south.
Where are they?
We open gardens right across Australia. There are gardens open in every state and territory.
How many gardens are there?
The Scheme has about 10,000 gardens on its books, with new gardens being discovered all the time. Each season we open around 650 private gardens to the public. Each of the gardens usually opens for just one or two weekends each season.
When are the gardens open?
As the Scheme now embraces the whole of the continent, there are gardens open in every month of the year.
In the temperate south, the main program runs between August and May. Moving further north into the tropics, gardens are also open during the winter.
How are they chosen?
All of the gardens included are first visited by our selectors who are experienced gardeners themselves.
To be included in the Scheme, the gardens must be good examples of their type, interesting and well-maintained.
