St Bernards Hotel will be the official head quarters for GarterBelts & Gasoline Nostalgia Tour on the Labour Day long weekend: Friday 29 April to Monday 2 May 2011.
The GarterBelts & Gasoline Nostalgia Festival is a celebration of the Cars, Music, Fashion, Art and Culture inspired from the 1940s and 1950s. It is held each Labour day weekend on beautiful Tamborine Mountain in the Gold Coast hinterland.
There will be three nights of live music, great food and friendly staff to make all feel welcome. There will be bands playing at St Bernards Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights and at the Hot Rod Carnivale on Sunday.
The Western Australian invasion is coming!
Rusty and the Dragstrip Trio (WA) will be making a rare appearance on the east coast along with Rocket to Memphis (WA), Warren Earl and The Atomic Rockers (VIC) will be making their first appearance in Brisbane for two years.
They will be joined by the debut of Pete Martini and The Freight Jumpers (QLD), we will also have the pleasure of Doug Wilshire and his band (QLD), The Fuelers (ACT) and many more acts to be announced.
Transport to St Bernards
A lot of questions have been asked about getting around the mountain if you don't want to drive everywhere. Well, Tamborine Trolley Tours are coming to the rescue!
The wonderful staff are going to put together The GarterBelts & Gasoline Festival Explorer Pass. You will be able to purchase one ticket and you will be able to ride the trolleys around all week end to and from the different venues.
You will be able to leave your ride safe and sound after a few beers, ride the trolley back to your accommodation and grab it the next day.
Tamborine Trolley Tours also do transfers to and from the Gold Coast if you want to leave the car at home altogether.
Hot Rods, Customs and Bikes
The Hot Rod Carnivale will take place at the Tamborine show grounds on Sunday the 1 May 2011. The show will be open to Pre 1970 Hot Rods, Customs, Stockers, Beaters and British and European bikes.
The day will include, the art exhibition, Pin Up Booth by Helen Mclean, Vintage Markets, Food Stalls, Licensed Bar (strictly no BYO please), The Little Miss GarterBelts & Gasoline Awards for young ladies 12 years and under, Live music all day and some surprises to come.
Pin Up Contest
The Pin Up contest will take place at St Bernards Hotel on the Saturday night, with some great prizes from sponsors Cruzin Magazine (QLD), Helen McLean Photography (VIC) and RedStripe Clothing (WA).
Art Show
The art exhibition will take place at the Tamborine Show Grounds Hall over four days. Artists will be able to display and sell their Kustom Kulture and Automotive art in the charming old world hall. The Show is open to Paintings, Photography, Carvings, Sculptures and Pin Striping.
Movies
During the Carnival, Hot Rod Lifestyle and Nostalgic movies will be shown at the stunning Zamia Theatre and you will even be able to have a beer or wine will watching a laid back flick.

The Vintage Shop Tour and High Tea
Your host will be Mistress Chrissy from The Lindy Charm School For Girls.
Your mission will be to take part in a high tea and live it up, then be guided on a Antique Shop tour of Tamborine Mountain with the lady herself as your guide and hostess, then finish of with a glass of bubbly!
The Vintage Soap Box Derby
Imagine going to a Vintage Soap Box Derby on the mountain on Saturday morning! The local police have given the go ahead to close off a road that could have been purpose built to hold such a race.
If you would like to be involved in the planning and running of what could become one of the coolest nostalgia events around, or if you are keen to help or offer some constructive advice on rules and regulations of such an event, please contact Paul Biagini (details below).
Otherwise, get planning and building your Vintage Soap Box Racers. The organisers are looking at two classes; one for the kids and one for the big kids.
This will be a family event and a great way to encourage our young ones away from the TV and Video games and out the the shed with mum and dad to design and build something cool and special!
