Workshops: Tuesday – Friday, 18th – 21st January 2011
What better way to finish off the school holidays than to participate in workshop as part of the Scenic Rim Regional Council’s “Blast into Arts” holiday program.
The Centre, through funding from the Regional Arts Development Fund, are able to offer three exciting workshops from 18th to 21st January 2011.
Circus Skills Workshop
The first is a circus skills workshop delivered by Circa, a peak organisation who have a unique vision of circus as a delightful, challenging and contemporary artform.

Brisbane-based Circa are hailed worldwide as one of the most dynamic forces in new circus.
The workshops will explore movement, listening, balance, coordination, memory and creativity and include tumbling, acrobalance, juggling, tightwire and multi-bike techniques.
Circa offer new ways of experiencing the awe-inspiring world of circus and have been performing and delivering workshops both on a national and international basis for many years and have a reputation for high quality, innovative performance skills.
The first is a 3-day workshop which runs from 9am to 12 Noon on each of the days and it is for 5 to 11 year olds. The second is also a 3 day Workshop running from 1pm to 4pm and it is for 11 to 16 year olds.
On the final day a presentation will be given by each workshop group to family, friends and the general public demonstrating the fantastic and creative skills developed as individuals and also as a group.

Camera Crazy Workshop
The second is a photography workshop titled Camera Crazy which will run over two days for families and young people by experts in the field, Bluedog Photography.

There are two sessions with the first on Tuesday 18 January covering elements of composition, lighting, do's and don’ts of taking photographs and working to capture images in response to a specified theme, in this case “A day in the life of Scenic Rim”.
Participants will be encouraged to explore the various techniques of portrait and photo composition in order to tell or portray a story.
After the workshop session, participants will receive a disposable camera and will be given the opportunity to embark on an exploration of the Scenic Rim to select their own subject/s to complete the task.
In the second session on Friday 21st January the facilitator will discuss and evaluate the images captured by the participants.
Images will be selected and presented in a group montage display within the Centre and will remain in place until 30 January enabling the general community and visitors to the region to experience the outcome of this project and the connections between a practicing photographers portrait collection and their own.
Each participant will receive a set of prints of their photographs and The Centre will retain a set for archival and promotional purposes. Registration to these workshops is $10 per person.

21st Century Kids On Tour - A Free Family Fun Day
On Saturday 22 January 2011, children and families are invited to participate in a free day of activities at The Centre for Arts & Culture, Beaudesert simultaneously with the Queensland Art Gallery, Gallery of Modern Art, as part of the 21st Century Kids program during the exhibition 21st Century: Art in the First Decade.

Brazilian artist, Rivane Neuenschwander's work, I Wish Your Wish
21st Century Kids on Tour will feature interactive activities for children and families by artists in the exhibition, including Fiona Hall (Australia), Tony Albert (Australia) and Rivane Neuenschwander (Brazil).
The projects have been developed to reflect the themes of the exhibition, offering children and families insights into contemporary international art created in the past decade.
Children are invited to bring their parents along to join in the fun and creative activities.
Doors will open at 10am and close at 2pm.
