The Arts Centre Gold Coast will celebrate its 25th birthday on Tuesday 6 December, 2011 and The Arts Centre management are inviting locals down to join them for morning tea to celebrate.
Guests will be entertained by local singer Christine Taylor and the team from Soapbox Theatre Productions before The Arts Centre Gold Coast General Manager Destry Puia is joined by special guest and past General Manager Kelvin Cordell for the official 25th birthday cake cutting ceremony.
Gold Coast local Caroline Taylor is constantly in-demand as a singer, teacher and adjudicator. Her extensive training and knowledge has provided her with the versatility to perform across a wide range of genres including Jazz, Pop, Musical Theatre, and Pop Opera.
Her lengthy association with The Arts Centre has seen her perform in many musicals and undertake leading roles in Beehive, Sizzling Hits, Lipstick, Juke Box and Les Miserables. Most recently, Caroline has been one of the featured artists in Live & Intimate in The Basement.
Soapbox Theatre Productions is a vibrant and innovative ensemble formed by a dedicated group of Gold Coast based artists who strive to strengthen and broaden the arts and arts practice in south east Queensland. Soapbox works with love for their art and their audiences, creating atmospheric and unforgettable productions.
Soapbox have formed a terrific ongoing relationship with The Arts Centre Gold Coast and are delighted to be a part of the 25th birthday celebrations.
Mayor Ron Clarke will also be in attendance on that morning to celebrate 25 years of The Arts Centre and speak about the role the centre has played in the community over the years.
General Manager Destry Puia is excited about the centre reaching this milestone.
‘The 25th birthday provides a great opportunity to look back, appreciate and applaud the incredible legacy of The Arts Centre and the Gold Coast as a community.
‘We are one of the oldest regional theatres in Queensland and with that mantle comes a history steeped in significant achievements,’ said Destry.
‘Whether you have never been to The Arts Centre or you have been with us since day one, I invite locals to come along to help us celebrate our birthday and be part of The Arts Centre family,’ he said.
The full calendar of events and activities for the 25th birthday celebrations will be launched at this morning tea.
