What do the “Tin Man” of the “Wizard of Oz” and Beaudesert have in common?
Good question, but our Scenic Rim Council Deputy Mayor has the answer.
No “toto” in tow, and going it alone, (with no eye contact), when interviewed on the subject of the Beaudesert Centre Revitalisation Project (BCRP) by Peter Smith of the Tamborine Mountain Daily Star.
Like the “wicked witch of the west”, his remarks on the township of Beaudesert have us reeling like drunkards, (in amazement at his comment), as we wander, (it would appear), aimlessly along the “yellow brick road of life” in Beaudesert.
Beaudesert, it would seem, according to our Deputy Mayor has no “heart” but Council he claims can give us what we need, and I might add, only Council.
We the ratepayers, have no choice or voice in this. Careful now, don't fail to follow that path – the yellow one that is!
Now look here munchkins, you and I and all of the “others” need to pay attention and heed the word of David, the only one who, it would seem, knows what is good for us and what is not.
Maybe, he feels we are an unruly bunch of uneducated and illiterate munchkins – hence the push for the library.
Maybe we need “edumucatin”.
If it is a heart Beaudesert is lacking, here in the land of Oz, what a dilemma! One of which, obviously, only a new library can indeed solve.
I am wondering if a tornado will appear and whisk us all of to parts unknown where we can find a heart for our town, (or at least the money to pay for one).
But of course!
The answer to all our problems MUST lie in the construction of a library?
Perhaps indeed we are an uneducated lot? But then that flies in the face of his boss’s comment regarding supremacy of the folk that lie beyond the Yellow Brick road in the Land of the Mountain of Tamborine.
It's all getting too complicated and confusing for me munchkins. I am off to take a valium, and await another pearl of wisdom to escape from the lips of our deputy mayor.
Maybe a fortuitous tornado may indeed come along and whisk him off in the meantime to never be seen again.
One thing is for sure, this “yellow brick road” is not paved in gold, quite the contrary.
Wait! I hear a knocking on the door, why!. Tis the “Tin Man”?. But why is he holding a new 3D image of a library? Surely he does not think he has found HIS heart?
