Mayor of Scenic Rim Regional Council, Cr John Brent, said the re-opening is significant as it is one of the many projects in the bridge program which is focussed on improving access across the region.
“Council’s continued focus on road and bridge works across the region is about ensuring we are upgrading and maintaining our extensive transport network.”
“The Scenic Rim has a vast network of aging bridges and we are working hard to provide improved access and safety for residents, local industry and visitors.
“We have committed to a noteworthy $4.9 million bridge replacement and rehabilitation program in this year’s budget and we are now seeing this funding transformed into better access across the Scenic Rim.”
The replacement of Klan Bridge cost approximately $200,000, works for the replacement of the bridge on Mt Barney Road, Barney View, started in August 2011.
Cr Brent concluded by reminding all motorists to drive safety and adapt their driving to the road conditions, exercising particular caution around road works.
