Vicky O'Keefe is the second of three children born to Marianne Renate and the pioneer of Australian rock 'n roll, the legendary Johnny O’Keefe.
Drawn to music at an early age, Vicky studied piano and guitar throughout her school years. Her musical training morphed over years into her crafting the art of songwriting and developing a personal singing style.
Each tribute show includes a knockout three piece band to pay tribute to her father's songs. The performers invite the audience to share some stories about the man behind the music.
Johnny O'Keefe is certainly one of Australia's most respected and well known pioneers of rock 'n roll.
His most famous release with his band Johnny O'Keefe and The Dee Jays in 1958, Wild One, saw O'Keefe race to the top of the
charts and earn his place in Australian music history.
Today, O'Keefe's very own daughter Vicky has taken the liberty of sharing the brilliance of her iconic father who tragically passed away 31 years ago.
Vicky is an accomplished musician, singer and songwriter who continues to play to full houses across Australia while receiving broad acclaim for her soulful, enthusiastic and entertaining shows.
Her performances incorporate melancholy and joy, always leaving her audiences appealing for more. Her shows are high energy Rock 'n Roll as she performs tribute songs and a huge range of covers.
I'm Counting on You was an album Vicky released in 2002 as a tribute to her father. The album featured O'Keefe classics such as, Move Baby Move, She's My Baby, Shout and She Wears My Ring.
This special tribute night will be a reminder to everyone of why they fell in love with Johnny O'Keefe's music and with rock 'n roll.
The Johnny O'Keefe tribute night will not only pay homage to her father but more importantly will showcase Vicky O'Keefe as a standout performer in her own right.
I was lucky enough to see this show last year. Vicky blew everyone away with her performance.
She now has a full band including on saxophone, Willie Gallapagus Duck Kwa, on guitar, Glen Chip Heffernan, on drums, Wazza Ryan and on bass, Lew Lewis (former vokrok).
This is a not to miss show and you can be sure that you will be sharing the journey with Vicky on the night as she takes you on a sing song tribute to her father, the legendary singer Johnny O'Keefe.
