The Blast Into Arts Holiday holiday program, proudly presented by the Scenic Rim Regional Council, entertains children and young adults during school holiday periods. This year there are two weeks of activities prior to Christmas followed by two weeks in January.
Looking at the December program, understandably it's all related to Christmas.
There are Christmas stories being organised at the Beaudesert and Tamborine Mountain Libraries, Christmas card making at the Beaudesert Library, Christmas decorations with Arne at the Centre and making edible Christmas treats in the 'Kitchen Kapers with Kate" cooking classes, also at the Centre.
All of the activities are free except for the cooking classes where a fee of $12 is applicable and as numbers for all the activities are limited, bookings are essential.
Another exciting project is the launch of the Summer Reading Club which will be taking place at all the libraries from 10th December. It is to encourage readers to discover the many places books can take them.
But, for all who would rather just sit back and enjoy a movie there are four to choose from in December at the Centre in Beaudesert. The four, which are all rated "G" for general admission are Thumbelina, Mickey's Christmas Carol, A Christmas Story and Bush Christmas.
Bush Christmas is worth a special mention as it is the first film in which Nicole Kidman ever starred but even more importantly, it is filmed all around the Scenic Rim region. You might recognise the Mount Barney area along with Beaudesert town itself.
Admission for all the films is only $3 and included in that is a drink and a snack.
The full printed program, which also includes January events, can be picked up from any of the Customer Service Centres, Libraries or Cultural Centres.
