Scenic Rim Council will hold an Australia Day Ceremony at the Centre, Beaudesert as part of Australia Day celebrations where 23 Scenic Rim residents will become Australian citizens.
During the ceremony new Australian residents will be welcomed from countries including Zimbabwe, Rhodesia, India, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Philippines, United States of America, Netherlands and South Africa.

The Australia Day Awards recipients will also be announced at the ceremony.
Mayor John Brent said the ceremony will celebrate the achievements of the region’s outstanding citizens and welcome new Australians to the Scenic Rim.
“Australia Day is an important day where we celebrate all things Australian, including the generous people of our nation - those who volunteer their time and are at the heart of community spirit,” Cr Brent said.
“We also celebrate those that become Australian citizens and we will welcome these 23 Scenic Rim residents in true Aussie spirit."
“Council encourages all residents to take part in an Australia Day event as it is a day of patriotism, respect and reflection and we should we proud to live in a great nation."
“This is one day that I particularly look forward to – and obviously the participants must really appreciate is important."
The Australia Day Ceremony will be held on Wednesday 25 January 2011 from 5- 7pm at The Centre, 82 Brisbane Street Beaudesert.
